Description

The Mangani mine (or Mangani-Marsman mine) was a gold and silver mine. "Two veins with Au-Ag-mineralization. Mined in 1940 and 1941. The ore is Mn-bearing." [cit. mindat]. Here we have an ore sample of Mangani. The minerals were not specified on the label, but as far as I can tell visually, there is cream-colored rhodochrosite, a white quartz vein and blackish amorphous masses of probably manganese oxides. I could not see any free gold or silver. An interesting sample from a very rare locality, perhaps worth analyzing.

Comes with old O. Achenbach, Siegen, Germany label. Unfortunately, no further information is available about this collector.
