Description

This northern Greek locality is known for alpine type smoky quartz and amethyst but I has never given us any gwindels. The locality mostly produces tessin-habit smoky quartz and gwindels and mostly associated with the classic habit smoky quartz. However, a few gwindel-like formations have been discovered and this is the biggest and best one by far. The previous owner of the specimen took it to a group of specialists and strahlers in Munich last year and told me that it was indeed confirmed as a smoky quartz gwindel on a smoky quartz crystal! At any case, it is a huge smoky quartz cluster for the locality(it usually produces 2-3cm crystals) with excellent clarity and fine smoky color. The price I am starting it at, is as if it were just a smoky quartz from this rare locality.
