Description

Forcherite is a yellow to orange variety of opal, owing its colour to microscopic inclusions of orpiment and realgar. Here is a specimen from Saint Nectaire, Puy de Dôme, France. A bright orange-colored crust of forcherite was deposited from mineral waters directly on granite matrix. Shows a weak greenish fluorescence under SW UV.

Comes with a newer Krantz label.
