Description

Intriguing specimen consisting of an elongated green-grey diopside crystal piercing a crude white-yellow rhombohedron of calcite. Diopside shows rounded faces on both the prism and the termination, which is present. Calcite appears to be rather a piece of cleavage, with good lustre and possibly fluorescent.

Most diopside specimens I have seen from this area are not terminated and are extracted from etching the calcite, hence this one appears to be quite a one-off.

This specimen is well-balanced and it comes with an esthetic too. From the Lehmann collection (CH), dated back to the late 80s-early 90s.
