Description

A massive ore specimen consisting mainly of sphalerite and hosting a brownish, matte layer of antimony-containing native arsenic (best seen in pics 1 & 2).

Comes with original hand-written label of Augustin Alexis Damour (1808-1902), a well-known french mineralogist, and on-glued corresponding number sticker.
His personal mineral collection was sold to F. Krantz (who was in charge of the Krantz mineral dealership between 1891 and 1926), probably shortly after his death.
The label means:
'Arsenic Antimonifère en masse lamelleuse - avec Blende - de Portugalete Bolivie' (Antimonial Arsenic in layered mass - with Blende - from Portugalete Bolivia).
