Kermesite & Stibnite

Classic Locality

Description Tabs

Description
Locality:
Pezinok, Pezinok County, Bratislava Region, Slovakia (Slovak Republic)
Class:
Crystals on Matrix
Size Range:
Small cabinet (7-10 cm)
Size:
8.2 × 5.1 × 2.1 cm
Description

Sprays of lustrous, kermesin red needles are aesthetically scattered over the whole display side of this great specimen. The well defined crystals are accompanied by steel grey, metallic lustrous stibnite. This is a very good specimen from the old times.

A decade or more ago, many Slovakian collectors offered me on mineral shows in Munich or Ste. Marie good specimens from that locale, but mostly not this quality. Nowadays, the pockets are largely exploited and such great finds are probably history.
