Description

This is a piece of amber from the former lignite mine Goitsche near Bitterfeld. The fossil resin is succinite. Succinite is by far the most common type of amber. The amber has an unusual structure. It is still easy to see how the resin flowed down the tree. The amber shines intensely blue with UV light.
