Description

This specimen consists of bright metallic native antimony in association with stibnite, valentinite, and minor kermesite.

The piece comes from the collection of Edward H. Oyler, for whom the mineral edoylerite is named. See the label tab.

Ed had no formal training, yet he was one of the greatest collectors and experts on California minerals. He was especially interested in the mines of the New ldria mercury field in San Benito County. The new mercury mineral, discovered by Ed, was formally described by Richard C. Erd and others in 1993, and named in honor of its discoverer.
