Description

The San Juan Mountains are known for their fine quartz encrustations.

This is a quartz cast after an octahedral fluorite on a quartz after calcite rhomb.

The original minerals were dissolved long ago by acidic solutions. Finding an epimorph like this, especially a cast is very unusual.
