Description

Rich group of rare ferrimolybdite crystals from Sardinia. Yellow-pale ferrimolybdite coates what appears to be a deeply altered molybdenite-rich ore. Specifically, individual crystal groups populate a nice vug, giving a great contrast and photogenic rendering to the specimen. The matrix specimen is partially given by a water rich ochre which has dried out over time, leaving a brown mud-like appearance to its bottom.
Exceptionally rare and rather sizeable, I have obtained this specimen in 2004 at an Italian mineral show that does no longer take place. Since then, I have hardly spotted any ferrimolybdite of such quality and size.
