Description

Very rich cluster of lustrous cubes of melanophlogite from Visiano quarry. The crystals are well formed, mostly transparent. Cubes lie on the typical silica-rich matrix the quarry was exploited for.

Specimens from this find were analysed with Raman, X-ray diffraction and electron microscopy, and revealed a high content in methane, resulting in a scientific publication on American Mineralogist (2008).

Quite sought-after nowadays, this small miniature comes from the former collection Mavris.
