Description

Super gemmy cuprite crystals of amazing lustre and red colour, on a polycrystalline cuprite matrix. They are formed by rhombic dodecahedral crystals, that have 6 or 8 edges, modified by wide square cubic faces and some triangular faces, not always present. The cherry red colour is very intense and gets an impressive gemmy red colour if backlighted.

This old specimen is from the Kalabi mine (quite uncommon in collections) that is perfectly located because it was collected before 1968 by Martíal Borzée, a Belgian engineer to Congo.
