Description

Lustrous amethyst quartz from the Brynsåsen Quarry (Norway) of intense purple colour and black smoky core. The rear side is mostly recrystallized and partially covered by tiny quartz crystals. The sides show typical stepped growth because they were in contact with other crystals but the are not broken. Minor erosions are present but the big size of the piece compensate it!. It is in fact the most robust crystals we could obtain from Einar Teppen, the Norwegian collector who found the specimen in 2008. They were recovered mostly as loose crystals in a narrow fault zone that cut the granite rock. Norwegian amethyst crystals have never been abundant at all in the market.
