Description

Lustrous text book and well-developed gemmy crystals of topaz that reach 3.9 cm. The vitreous lustre is very intense with a pale colour. Some smaller topaz crystals have red terminations due to unknown inclusions, probably goethite. The main crystals are formed by the prism {110}, modified by {120}, beveled by {010} and (001) at the top. Furthermore, the matrix is opulently covered by water clear opal-AN (hyalite) that looks like frozen water bubbles. It displays a strong green fluorescence under short UV illumination, and lighter pale green under long UV.

Acquired in the early 1980’s, it is an Ex Roger Leemans specimen.
