Description

Different branches of wood replaced by lustrous brown rhombohedra of calcite and some gemmy white natrolite needles at the rear. Interestingly, some tiny dark green to black crystals (augite?) are also “pasted” to the bark, as part of the volcanic tuff that formed the matrix, showing that this uncommon natrolite-calcite fossilization is a product of a volcanic eruption.

Found in 02/2012 at the Mount Elgon (a remote locality in Uganda) by the Dutch collector Bert Biemold.
