Thomsonite

Description Tabs

Description
Locality:
Fallowvee, Waterfoot, County Antrim, Northern Ireland, United Kingdom
Size Range:
Cabinet (10-18 cm)
Size:
10.5 × 8 × 6 cm
Description

Vugs as large as this with a complete coverage of thomsonite crystals are rare, especially as the species in Co. Antrim usually occurs in small ball like structures. Some of the crystals and a small area on the back of the specimen are coated with an unknown pink mineral. This is the largest from a new find at Garron Head. The thomsonite covers an area of 5 x 5 cm. A very nice zeolite specimen.
