Description

Here we have an exciting, two-part specimen from the Juchem quarry near Idar-Oberstein. Long prismatic crystals of former aragonite of the first generation are framed by agate and quartz of the second generation. Such pieces are known as pseudomorphs, but a scratch test and contact with hydrochloric acid have shown that this is not the case with this specimen and that the calcium carbonate is still present.
