Description

This is an excellent specimen of apatite var staffelite form the "type locality". Carbonate-Fluor-Apatite is meanwhile discredited but the staffelites are still sought after classics. This one is a really good old timer from the long time defunct phosphorite mine at Staffel. Comes with Freiberg label. I think that the specimen originates from the second half of the 19th century or first half of the 20th century. Botryoidal apatite on carbonate host rock matrix. Rare!
