Description

Interesting UK classic from the 19th century out of the Dr. F. Krantz stock. I wondered for some time about a more exact locality for the specimen because it came out of a UK material drawer at Krantz with some very similar ones but had no label with it. One year later i checked that drawer again and found two more of this kind, one of them with attached label Clifton, Bristol. So it is quite responsible to assign this specimen, consisting of short pyramidal quartz crystals on a hematite rich matrix with more Fe oxides, in part included in the quartz, to the Clifton area. The timing of the specimens is also in favour of this. Of course i can not give 100 % guarantee.
