Description

A single quartz crystal with shiny, metallic cassiterite clustered at its base.

The quartz crystal is translucent with cassiterite inclusions visible without magnification. The termination is perfect except for one very minor chip.

The cassiterite crystals all have well preserved faces and edges and display some interesting twin and intergrowth relationships. There is also some minor “ruby tin” visible.

The specimen is from The Gulf Mine in the famous Torrington Field in New South Wales, Australia.
