Fluorite & Quartz

Description Tabs

Description
Locality:
West Pasture Mine, Weardale, County Durham, United Kingdom
Class:
Crystals on Matrix
Size Range:
Small miniature (3-4.5 cm)
Size:
3.8 × 3 × 1.8 cm
Description

A very aesthetic specimen from this rare locality and in our days this material is very hard to obtain. Most crystals from this mine are nearly colorless - out of one reason: the crystals are light sensitive. And most material was under daylight for decades and lost it´s color. This one is as dark as it could be from West Pastures. It shows a dark, bottle green color. The isolated crystal is pereched at the top and shows amazing contrast to snowy white, sparkling quartz crystals. One face of the fluorite crystal shows micro quartz crystals intergrown to teh surface. No significant damages to report, perfect aesthetic.
