Description

A specimen from the type locality of Thalénite-(Y)! - Benedicks C. (1898).

The specimen basically consists of quartz, pale rose coloured masses and small crystals of Thalénite-(Y), yellowish Fluocerite-(Ce) - in close association beside Thalénite-(Y) in small crystals up to 0.5 cm, often covering or overcrusting Thalénite-(Y) - and a black mixture of probably Gadolinite-(Y) and Allanite-(Y) surrounding Thalénite-(Y) and Fluocerite-(Ce).

Followed by three old labels, one of W.Maucher and two handwritten ones in italian language.

The geological environment of the locality is a pegmatite located close to the small hamlet of Gustafs that was mined for quartz and feldspar in the 19th century and that got renowned for the occurrence of its rare minerals.

Due to the fact that such material is as good as not present on the market and the fact that the pegmatite quarry is practically not existing any more (H.-J. Wilke, 1997) one must state that here we have a historically valuable specimen.

Extremly low, almost not measurable radioactivity.
