Description

In-grown, reddish-brown titaniferous garnet (var. schorlomite) associated with greenish vesuviane, lustrous white calcite and dull white wollastonite in gabbro rock matrix.

Comes with Ernst Noske (ca. 1885-1965) label. He was a professional engineer and shipping magnate, and also a mineral collector, in Grossflottbek, a urban district of Hamburg. In 1965, through the help of the Volkswagen Foundation, the University of Hamburg acquired his 17,000-specimen comprehensive systematic mineral collection. On the backside of the label is a notice: "Gefunden D. A. Martens Hamburg-Lokstedt i. Juli 1951" (Found by D. A. Martens Hamburg-Lokstedt in july 1951).
