Description

A classic from Bergen Hill, Hudson Co., New Jersey, USA: White crystals of datolite together with light yellow calcite on diabase matrix.

Comes with very beautiful antique hand-written Isaac Walker label, dated 1862! - These Walker labels are increasingly rare. The label means: 'Datholite on Carbonate of Lime Bergen Hill New York'.
The left number is the lot number, and the date of the auction is on the right. The 'H' letter is a code for specimens with origin John Henry Heuland collection. The symbols bottom-left are a price code:
o stands for a guinea (a gold coin worth 1 pound 1 shilling)
1 stands for a pound (- this was a lot of money at that time...)
- stands for a shilling
