Description

Silvery, grained molybdenite and brown to ochre-colored ferrimolybdite on matrix rock.

Comes with label of the Mineralien-Niederlage (Mineral repository) of the Freiberg mining college, Saxony, Germany. Handwriting of Wilhelm Maucher, who was Faktor in 1904-1909.

The municipality of Grindum stated on the label was established on 1 January 1902 when the old municipality of Bjelland og Grindum was divided into two separate municipalities: Grindheim and Bjelland. During the 1960s, there were many municipal mergers across Norway. On 1 January 1964, Grindheim was merged with the Ågedal and Midtbø areas in Bjelland and the neighboring municipality of Konsmo to create the new municipality of Audnedal. Thus, the locality is likely the "Flottorp molybdenium mines, Audnedal, Lyngdal, Agder, Norway"

Molybdänocker = ferrimolybdite, Dana 7th II, 1095 (1951).
