Description

Another specimen I aquired recently at a local mineral show was this outstanding orange calcite. It stood out above all the other pieces on the table. There is a small typed label affixed to the back of the specimen which gives the location as "Dyserth, Nth. Wales" While there is a quarry here, I can find no reference to calcite as a species on Mindat.

The specimen features large pointed orange rhombs that exhibit some zoning and are fairly transluscent. I have not tested for fluorescence. The crystals are growing out of a pale coloured calcite matrix with a flat base, obviously being extracted from a seam.

Very Very nice and there is no damage that I can see.
