Description

This is a nice locality specimen from a mine that didn't make much profit, but did produce the world's largest single atacamite crystals reportedly up to 23 cm long ! Many fine crystal specimens went to museums and collections through out Europe at the time (1860s) but were however mislabelled as coming from the Burra Burra Mine.See the special Australia issue of the mineralogical Record Vol.19, No. 6, 1988

This specimen features beautiful gemmy green terminated micro crystals 2-3 mm long together with deep green stubby crystals of malachite on matrix. There are also a couple of small clear quartz crystals. The combination is lovely and looks fantastic through a microscope.
