Scolecite

Description Tabs

Description
Locality:
Dinnertime Hill, Arkaroola District, Flinders Ranges, South Australia, Australia
Size Range:
Small miniature (3-4.5 cm)
Size:
4.2 × 2.8 × 2.5 cm
Description

A solid mass of radiating intergrowing crystals of white scolecite from 800 m.y.o volcanic rocks. There is some attached matrix.

Material from this locality has previously been labelled as pectolite, but the most up to date advice I have is that this is incorrect and should be labelled as scolecite.
