Description

A thin seam of pure white aldermanite runs through this piece from the type locality. There is also a small vugh containing fluellite crystals that have been coated with aldermanite.

Aldermanite is a very rare phosphate mineral and specimens have become increasingly difficult to obtain from the type locality, which is now closed.

Aldermanite - Mg5Al12(PO4)8(OH)22·32H2O is named in honor of Arthur Alderman (1901–1980), Professor of Geology and Mineralogy, University of Adelaide, South Australia.
