Description

Black aggregates of subhedral crystals up to about 2 mm of the very new species piccoliite (IMA 2017-016) embedded in a quartz layer cutting a hematitic matrix. Minor tilasite and grandaite are also present. The specimen comes from the cotype-locality: an ancient mine located on the Cottian Alps (2500 m asl). EDX and Raman probed.
