Description

Extremely rare new mineral with a very curious tubular shape which gives name to the mineral. Approved in 2011 (IMA 2011-109) and published in June 2012 in the Newsletter of Mineralogical Magazine. Type locality. Formula: Ag2Pb22Sb20S53. Very limited finding. The sample has two tubes, the main one (0.8 mm) and a smaller one shown in the fourth photo. In addition to the tubes, the rest of the hairy webs scattered on matrix are also tubulite. The nice and perfect crystal in the third photo is geocronite, another very rare mineral. A different sample of tubulite was pictured in the cover of "Italian Type Minerals" (Ciriotti el al. 2010) when the mineral was still unnamed. Exceptional specimen for the perfection and lenght of the tub !.
