Description

Alcantarillaite is a recently approved and published new mineral structurally related to walentaite. The mineral is named after its type locality - the Alcantarilla Mine in Cordoba, Spain.

Alcantarillaite occurs mainly as yellow fillings together with scorodite in fissures and cracks in quartz adjacent to löllingite. It forms tiny, lime-yellow rosettes lining vugs and as spheroids of ultrathin blades.

This is a very rich and analysed specimen of this new mineral species.
