Description
Locality:
Tepetate, Villa de Arriaga Municipality, San Luis Potosi, Mexico
Class:
Crystals on Matrix
Size Range:
Miniature (4.5-7 cm)
Size:
5.4 × 4.2 × 3 cm
Description

Very pretty, gemmy and lustrous, blocky orthorhombic, bi-colored prisms of topaz are very aesthetically clustered on two sides of the volcanic tuff matrix.

These specimens are perhaps the most well known topazes from Mexico, due to their easily recognizable form and strong reddish-brown color. The topaz crystals reach 1.5 cm and the crystal on top has a striking knob of hyalite opal on the tip with a lime-green fluorescence.

Ex Armin Wendland collection.
