Dioptase & Cerussite

Pseudomorph

Description Tabs

Description
Locality:
Christoph Mine, Kaokoveld, Kunene Region, Namibia
Size Range:
Miniature (4.5-7 cm)
Size:
6.6 × 6 × 5.2 cm
Largest Crystal:
1.30cm
Description

A very interesting specimen with deep dark green dioptase crystals up to 1.2 cm. What's even more interesting is a gray crystal in the middle which I identified as cerussite (visual ID) - but in the shape of an elongated dioptase crystal. I think it's really a pseudomorph of cerussite after dioptase, which I have never seen before and couldn't even find on the internet. Locality was given as 'Kaokoveld' - I think to name it more exactly 'Christoph mine' is legitimate.
