Description Tabs

Description
Locality:
Hochfilzen, Kitzbühel Alps, North Tyrol, Tyrol, Austria
Class:
Crystals on Matrix
Size Range:
Small cabinet (7-10 cm)
Size:
7.7 × 6 × 4.8 cm
Description

A rare type of calcite: the elongated crystals are hexagonally stretched. Similar to a stalactite the crystals are hollow inside and consequently look like pipes. Hence the name "Röhren Calcite" (comparable to tube calcite). These specimens are hard to recover because they are often grown into each other within a narrow cavern. Please note: the light areas are not damaged - these are bright crystallized areas. Very good three-dimensional structure!
