Fluorite & Calcite

Description Tabs

Description
Locality:
Summit Cleft, Weißeck, Murwinkel, Tamsweg District, Salzburg, Austria
Class:
Crystal Group/Cluster
Size Range:
Small cabinet (7-10 cm)
Size:
8.5 × 7.8 × 6.4 cm
Description

This fluorite is a great rarity from the Summit Cleft and differs from the other pieces by its intense square structure on its faces. In the Summit Cleft, this intensive structure only was found in the third cavern when a thick fluorite vein formed a cavity inside. The faces are lightly etched and partly overgrown with a second generation of fluorites. With backlit, the fluorite shows very beautiful shades of violet, purple, blue and green. A calcite which has grown individually is an additional highlight. I found this piece in September 2004 and it was in my collection since that time. First and third photo with low LED backlit.
