Description

Barite and siderite on dark limonite/goethite matrix. The Barite crystals range in diameter up to 3.8 cm. Green malachite has grown on the barites and a thin transparent gypsum layer has grown over the malachite and barite. The gypsum gives the barites a wonderful sparkling shine. The malachite provides the excellent color contrast. This great piece comes from an old Greek iron mine. Such barite are not offered on the mineral market and new discoveries are no longer possible.
