Description

This extraordinary piece shows barite crystals up to 5.3 cm in diameter on dark limonite/goethite matrix. The barites are colored intensely red by red iron ocher and are covered with small white siderite crystals in the upper crystal area. Green malachite has grown in the lower area of the barite. A thin layer of plaster that has partially grown over the minerals provides an excellent shine that cannot be seen in the photo. Really an impressive piece from this old Greek iron mine which is not offered on the mineral market!
