Fluorite On Quartz
Cambokeels Mine, Weardale
,
County Durham
,
United Kingdom
Tweet
An irregular shaped piece of Fluorite matrix consists of large purple/green Fluorite cubes up to 4-5cm. This first generation of Fluorite is completely covered by a growth of milky white translucent Quartz crystals, which are often double terminated. On top of this Quarts sits one perfect twinned Fluorite crystal up to 2cm on edge. The Fluorite is colourless completely transparent and gemmy. There are multiple feint purple zonations present within the crystal. The faces of the crystal show the typical growth lines. Ex. Mike Gough collection. Probably originated from the mine in the 1980thies.
