Fluorite

Description Tabs

Description
Locality:
Großreifling, Landl, Liezen District, Styria, Austria
Class:
Crystals on Matrix
Size Range:
Small miniature (3-4.5 cm)
Size:
3.7 × 2.3 × 1.5 cm
Description

A fluorite cube sits exposed on bright calcite crystals. The gloss of the faces is matt shiny - a slight structure can be seen on the surface. The translucent color is impressive violet. The piece is not big but just perfect! With an edge length of 1.4 cm, the size of the fluorite is considerable for a fluorite from the Gutenstein limestone. This type of fluorite is very popular in Austria due to its rarity. The finder of this site is Gerhard Aschacher - a well-known Styrian collector and a friend who invited me to this finding place. First and third photo with lowest LED backlight.
